Features

new recycled fibers from the sorted garments

A NewRetex fiber is a post-consumer fiber made from worn-out clothing. All NewRetex textile fractions are sorted at our specialized AI-based sorting plant, by material type, composition and color.

We create new recycled fibers from the sorted garments, with full traceability, and in this process, we use NO water NOR ANY chemicals.

The colors

In a NewRetex yarn, there may be small specks of colored fibers and similar elements visible in the finished fabric. The color of a yarn is determined by the input material color. As the input may vary, you should expect a color variation between 5-10% from one lot to another.

Piece dyeing

The fabric can be dyed. If you as a customer choose to overdye the fabric, we will mention that there is a higher risk of contamination. There might be a few leftover fibers like elastane or other fibers that will be visible after a dying process. Especially in darker colors. NewRetex cannot take responsibility for this.

Pilling

Post-consumer yarns are still new in the market. In these yarns the fibers are shorter. This is natural and it means that the unevenness of the yarns and fabric surface may be bigger. Depending on the product you intend to make, pilling should be expected to have 1 higher note in the test.

No chemicals found

The post-consumer garments are washed several times before entering the circular process of becoming a new yarn. At the same time, it is EU law that garments entering the EU are in compliance with REACH.

To manage and address the slight, yet potential risk of unwanted chemicals, we conduct random testing according to AFRIM RSL. The selection is based on production volume and a risk evaluation to comprehensively cover our products.
